PR Briefs - News Items Dec. 17, 2005

December 17th, 2005 · 3 Comments

I was tempted to comment on a few of these at length, but decided one line could sum up my thoughts:

  • FlackLife - Ford backs down after trying to appease a critic who opposed its ad buy targeted at gays and lesbians.
  • Canuckflack - Creatives poach each others’ materials all the time. But what happens when a for-profit company steals some of the top-of-mind awareness of a public service campaign by a non-profit?  In this case, it’s the American Libraries Association  "Read" campaign being hijacked by Aubible.com’s "Don’t Read" ad campaign. Is that over the line?
  • John Wagner - There’s a definite ebb and flow to blogs, and Wagner has seen that "blogging is NOT for everyone, but only for those with a real passion to communicate, to share, to instruct, to be involved.
  • Robert Scoble - Based on a one paragraph mention in Scoble’s popular tech blog, and a couple from the Hobson and Holtz pod people, Mutually Inclusive PR shot up (briefly) to 6th place on the PubSub PR List. Why does one link make such a difference? Ask the hundreds of new visitors who checked out this blog this week.

Regarding your Robert Scoble remark, that’s exactly why the Community Lists at PubSub are useful. You were the flavor of the day and many users flocked and linked ot your blog. Hopefully, you’ll generate a continuous readership based on this experience. We’re working on additional features of the community lists so please continue to stop by.

Thanks for dropping by Steven. One feature I’d like to see in the PubSub PR community area is a tag cloud of topics being posted about by community members.

Eric, fame is fleeting;-)) When my own humble blog skyrocketed to the stratosphere on the PubSub PR List (for about three seconds), I found many new people poking around my site, and gained new subscribers. I myself have found the list a wonderful way to discover new blogs.
