I’ve been guilty of the kind of tunnel vision I warned about over corporate blogging.
In my case it was a corporate extranet for key member organizations.
I decided our organization needed an intranet/extranet. I pushed the project through in advance of the IT department and our main audience. We ended up with a very robust tool that it took some of our member organizations over a year to hook up to properly.
I was too impatient. Didn’t hear the organization telling me we had too much on our plates that year to handle an intranet as well. It was a good project, but slightly out of synch with our company, especially our technology platform.
I would do it differently if I could do it over again.
